So the question that hangs over the whole dramatic framework of Job is this: Can God be worshipped for who He is and not just for what He gives us? Is our creator intrinsically worthy of our worship in good times and in bad? Satan’s answer is an emphatic, “No, your servants will curse you to your face!”… “There is no one who really wants a relationship with you just for who you are YHVH! I’ve been walking up and down, going to and fro on this earth you’ve consigned to me to and it’s my territory now. Anyone who looks to you motivated purely by their selfish interest!”
