Bible Text: Romans 13:11-14 | Preacher: Steve Schantz | Series: Advent |

Dear Church family,
This week’s theme is The Lord is coming. This first week of Advent looks to the future return of Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords. The prophet Isaiah talks about God’s kingdom being established and there will be no more war. The Psalmist talks about the peace that comes when we go to the house of the Lord. Matthew reminds us that Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour, but the Lord is coming. Our message this Sunday will focus on Romans 13, where we are reminded that salvation is near and we want to put our hope in Jesus.

Key Text: Romans 13:11-14 (NRSV) “Put On Christ”
(NIV) 11And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14Rather, clothe yourselves with the LORD Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
